As the new MD of Takeda UK (one of the highest performing Takeda affiliates), Mr Fukutomi is expected to bring this wide-ranging experience to bear on realizing the full potential of the UK market, building on the company’s unique business model to drive sales growth through partnership with healthcare providers in line with the principles of Takeda-ism.

He will be supported in this endeavour by a new strategic marketing director, Jon Neal, who joins Takeda from Merck Sharp & Dohme.

Simon McErlane is the third new senior appointment, taking over as medical director for Takeda UK. With nine years experience in the industry (including two years in Australia as medical director of Pfizer’s respiratory, infectious diseases, oncology and rheumatology portfolio), Dr McErland joined TPEU three years ago as European medical manager with responsibility for Takeda’s cardiovascular portfolio.
