Are serial whistleblowers useful tipsters or only in it for the money?

Over the past two decades, a 65-year-old internist named William LaCorte has filed 12 lawsuits accusing different health care companies of defrauding taxpayer funded programs such as Medicare. And five of those lawsuits have together led the government to recover hundreds of millions of dollars. This string of litigation has made LaCorte into the equivalent of a serial whistleblower.
