- UK company Alizyme has obtained the worldwide rights to medicaluses of a natural product derived from rice which inhibits fat digestion. Yakurigaku Chou Kenkyusho, which developed the product, has already conducted a small-scale trial of the product, demonstrating that blood triglyceride levels were reduced. This, says Alizyme, is consistent with a reduction in fat digestion and absorption. Alizyme will now evaluate the therapeutic potential of the product further.
