USA-based Alnylam Pharmaceuticals has licensed the Asian rights to its ALN-RSV01, an RNAi therapeutic in Phase II clinical development for the treatment of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection, to Japanese biotechnology-based company Kyowa Hakko Kogyo.
Under the terms of the collaboration, Kyowa Hakko will pay Alnylam $15.0 million in an upfront cash payment and up to $78.0 million worth of development and sales milestones. Upon commercialization, Alnylam will receive double-digit royalties on the sales of the product in this territory. The partnership also includes additional RSV-specific RNAi therapeutic compounds that comprise the ALN-RSV program. Alnylam will retain all development and commercialization rights in other countries.
