Massachusetts, USA-based Altus Pharmaceuticals says that it has re-acquired ALTU-238 development and commercialization rights for North America from biotechnology major Genentech. Also, the company announced that the exclusive option granted to Genentech for ALTU-238 development and commercialization outside North America has expired.
The announcement led to a good deal of speculation, with some analysts saying Altus had bought back the rights to its drug because Genentech had done little to develop it, while others said that the biotechnology giant ended the deal, having lost interest just a year after acquiring the developmental product.
