Amylin's pramlintide

- Amylin Pharmaceuticals has reported the results of a new Phase II study of its lead drug pramlintide that reconfirm earlier Phase II data which show that the compound, when administered in 30 microgram doses four times per day, lowers both post-meal and average 24-hour glucose concentrations in patients with Type I (juvenile-onset) diabetes, compared to placebo. On the basis of these findings, the company says it is beginning Phase III trials for this indication.
