"An opportunity we should embrace," ABPI on RCP report
Richard Tiner, the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry's medical director, has responded to media claims that the Royal College of Physicians' recent report (Innovating for Health; Marketletter February 16) "is just the latest in a line of attacks" on drugmakers. Dr Tiner argues that the RCP "wants to re-invigorate the relationship between the people that make medicines and the people that prescribe them" for a "new covenant" by removing gift and pharma-sponsored continuing education for physicians. Common ground exists in other areas, such as drug access to patients.
