The Medicines Company, a USA-based developer of products for acute hospital care, has reported the results of an innovative analysis of its ACUITY trial, focusing on the cost-effectiveness of its Angiomax (bivalirudin) in the treatment of patients with moderate and high-risk acute coronary syndromes.
The firm says that major and minor bleeding contribute significantly to hospital expenses, with lesser events costing, on average, $2,282 per event, with more serious incidents draining $8,658 from budgets for each sufferer.
