Cambridge, UK-based Astex Therapeutics, a leading fragment-based drug discovery company, says that it has successfully achieved two scientific milestones in its drug discovery collaboration with Janssen Pharmaceutica NV, a unit of US drug major Johnson & Johnson. This relates to Astex having successfully solved the three-dimensional protein crystal structures of two of the novel drug targets involved in the accord. The achievement of each milestone has triggered a payment to Astex, financial details of which were not disclosed.
