Anglo-Swedish drug major AstraZeneca has announced the launch of a direct-to-pharmacy distribution scheme for its products in Poland, effective from 2009. Three local wholesalers will manage AZ's supply chain: PGF, Prosper and Torfarm, which account for about 47% of the Polish wholesale market. The leading firm, PGF, also operates 1,900 pharmacies, most of them in partnership with a cooperative, out of the country's estimated 11,000 pharmaceutical retail outlets.
