- Bayer Mexico has opened a $45 million manufacturing plant in Lerma,Mexico state. The plant, which will manufacture over-the-counter products, has a capacity of 4,000 tonnes per year, and is the largest of its kind in Latin America. In 1996, Bayer Mexico's sales were 3.5 billion pesos ($450 million).
