BECTON DICKINSON UPS PRODUCTION

The US medical products group Becton Dickinson is to invest a further 83.1 million French francs ($14.6 million) in 1994 in its French single-use glass syringe production plant at Pont-de-Claix in the Isere region of France.

The company has already made an investment of this amount at the plant, which is part of Becton Dickinson's pharmaceutical systems division. It will also introduce new systems of internal organization and is investing 3 million francs in advanced training programs.

Becton Dickinson is in negotiations to take over a European company specializing in containers for dry pharmaceutical products ready for use. Becton Dickinson's French subsidiary reported sales of some 1.3 billion francs last year, with a workforce of about 1,000.
