Biocon Biologics deal for Yesafili commercialization

Indian drugmaker Biocon (BSE: 532523) subsidiary Biocon Biologics has announced a settlement and license agreement with the USA’s Regeneron (Nasdaq: REGN) that clears the way to commercialize Yesafili (aflibercept-jbvf), an interchangeable biosimilar aflibercept, in the USA.

Yesafili, a vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibitor, is used to treat several different types of ophthalmology conditions, is a biosimilar of its reference product Eylea (aflibercept), which was developed by Regeneron and marketed by Bayer (BAYN: DE). Eylea generated sales in the USA of $5.97 billion last year.
