Alfasigma bets on rheumatology growth as filgotinib advances in axSpA

Italy-based drugmaker Alfasigma is seeking to use new Phase III data on filgotinib in axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA), to strengthen its credentials in rheumatology, as the firm pushes further into specialty care and rare diseases.

At this year’s EULAR congress in London, the company presented results from the OLINGUITO study, data that could mark an important step for Alfasigma as it works to expand beyond its Italian roots into a broader international specialty pharma business.
