Inhibrx's OX40 agonist nearly doubles response rate in head and neck cancer trial

9 September 2026

US biopharma Inhibrx Biosciences (Nasdaq: INBX) has reported that its OX40 agonist INBRX-106, combined with Merck & Co's (NYSE: MRK) Keytruda (pembrolizumab) nearly doubled response rates against pembrolizumab alone in a randomized Phase II trial in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC).

The HexAgon study compared the combination against pembrolizumab monotherapy in 63 evaluable, treatment-naive patients with PD-L1-positive metastatic or unresectable recurrent HNSCC. The confirmed objective response rate reached 48.3% with the combination against 26.5% for pembrolizumab alone, with four patients on the combination achieving a complete response against none in the control arm.
