Chinese biopharmaceutical firm Akeso (HKEX: 9926) has reported that its bispecific antibody ivonescimab improved overall survival (OS) compared with Keytruda (pembrolizumab), from US pharma major Merck & Co (NYSE: MRK), in previously untreated lung cancer patients, at a pre-specified interim analysis of the Phase III HARMONi-2 trial assessed by an independent data monitoring committee.
The company said the study met its key secondary endpoint of OS, with the improvement described as both statistically significant and clinically meaningful. No figures were released. Akeso said detailed results will be presented at an international medical conference and published in a peer-reviewed journal in due course.
