US pharma major Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) has agreed to acquire privately-held Firefly Bio for $1 billion in cash, adding a degrader antibody conjugate (DAC) platform designed to target hard-to-treat solid tumors.
The deal gives J&J access to Firefly’s proprietary Firelink platform, which combines features of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) and targeted protein degradation. The approach is designed to deliver protein degraders selectively to tumor cells while limiting exposure to healthy tissue.
