Lilly's experimental gene therapy restores hearing in early study

Akouos, which Eli Lilly (NYSE: LLY) acquired in a deal worth up to $610 million in 2022, has released positive initial clinical results from the Phase I/II AK-OTOF-101 study, testing a gene therapy for the restoration of hearing loss.

The study demonstrated pharmacologic hearing restoration within 30 days of AK-OTOF administration in the first participant, an individual with a decade-plus history of profound hearing loss.
