UCB looks beyond inflammation as immunology strategy gathers momentum

Belgian biopharma UCB (Euronext Brussels: UCB) is broadening its ambitions in immunology beyond controlling inflammation, with a long-term goal of achieving “immune reset” through differentiated therapies that could transform outcomes across rheumatology, dermatology and other immune-mediated diseases.

Speaking to The Pharma Letter following this year’s EULAR Congress, John Ioannou, UCB’s global medical head of immunology, said the company’s growing pipeline reflects a strategy centered on patient needs rather than product targets, as it builds on the commercial success of Bimzelx (bimekizumab) while advancing late-stage and next-generation immunology candidates.
