
Vedanta Biosciences, a Cambridge, Massachusetts-based late clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing microbiome-based oral therapies for gastrointestinal disease, has secured $60 million in funding and named two new board appointments ahead of pivotal Phase III data for its lead candidate.
The funding comprises a $40 million financing round led by existing investors AMR Action Fund and BNP Paribas Asset Management Alts - delivered in two tranches of roughly $18 million and $22 million across the first and second quarters - plus a further $20 million from the US Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) under Vedanta's existing contract.
