Wave regains WVE-006 rights, speeds AATD strategy

US biotech Wave Life Sciences (Nasdaq: WVE) has regained full rights to WVE-006 from British pharma GSK (LSE: GSK), bringing the RNA-editing therapy for alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency back in-house as it prepares for higher-dose clinical data and steps up regulatory engagement.

The move follows an agreement with GSK, whose respiratory focus is now on larger disease areas. Wave said it is well positioned to advance WVE-006 efficiently in AATD, which affects about 200,000 people across the USA and Europe, despite its rare-disease label.
