
Danish biotech Zealand Pharma (Nasdaq: ZEAL) has sold almost all of its remaining economic interests in the polycythemia vera candidate rusfertide to royalty investor Royalty Pharma (Nasdaq: RPRX) for $100 million, turning a legacy entitlement it no longer treats as core into cash ahead of a US regulatory decision due within weeks.
The package covers a 1% royalty on potential future global net sales of rusfertide, plus regulatory and commercial milestones. Zealand receives $50 million on closing, which took place on August 12, with the remaining $50 million due on the first anniversary of that date.
