Nektar and Takeda collaborate on combination cancer compounds

US biotech firm Nektar Therapeutics (Nasdaq: NKTR) has entered into a research collaboration with Japanese major Takeda Pharmaceutical (TYO: 4502) to explore the combination of its lead immuno-oncology candidate, the CD122-biased agonist NKTR-214, with five oncology compounds from Takeda's cancer portfolio.

The companies will explore the anti-cancer activity of NKTR-214 with five different targeted mechanisms in preclinical tumor models of lymphoma, melanoma and colorectal cancer.

Nektar also has a deal with Bristol-Myers Squibb (NYSE: BMY) to investigate NKTR-214 as a potential combination treatment regimen in five tumor types and seven potential indications.
