German drug major Boehringer Ingelheim has announced that Andreas Barner will become chairman by the end of the year. Dr Barner will replace Alessandro Banchi who retires after 35 years in the position. Also to be appointed to the board at the same time are Bert Willink, Wolfram Carius and Hubertus von Baumbach. They will fill the empty seats left by Dr Banchi, as well as Hans-Jurgen Leuchs and Marbod Muff, who will both retire on December 31, 2008.
