The Brazilian government has banned the production and sale of 136 drugproducts which contain antibiotics which can, with other substances, cause antibiotic resistance in bacteria, according to Health Ministry official Marta Nobrega Martinez.
The Ministry has given a 90-day deadline for manufacturers to change the products' composition, she said, and over 400 Ministry inspectors will be monitoring more than 50,000 drugstores for the products.
