China crackdown on bogus medical experts

China's State Administration for Industry and Commerce has launched a campaign against bogus medical experts who appear in advertisements to  endorse medicines on behalf of manufacturers. Actors who portray health  care professionals in order to give more credibility to a product's  claims will be punished, the SAIC said.

In January, 12 fake experts operating in the eastern Shandong province  were exposed by a Chinese web site, provoking a public uproar, according  to Reuters.
