CHMP gives nod to four new drugs at meeting

At its late November meeting, the European Medicines Agency's (EMEA) Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) adopted positive opinions for the following drugs:

- US biotechnology major Amgen's Nplate (romiplostim), which is the 51st orphan drug to be approved by the CHMP and is intended to treat adult chronic immune idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura splenectomizd patients who are refractory to other therapies. The drug is already approved in Australia and the USA;
