Clarification: diabetic retinopathy treatment
CLARIFICATION: In Marketletter November 13, 2000, an articlecovering the start of a trial of AstraZeneca's Atacand (candesartan cilexetil) in the treatment of diabetic retinopathy contained the statement, "there are currently no approved therapies to treat diabetic retinopathy." Swiss firm OM Pharma has asked us to point out that its Doxium (calcium dobesilate) is, in fact, approved for the treatment of microangiopathies, which include diabetic retinopathy, in 45 countries.
