The Czech government's Cabinet has approved a broad outline of health service reforms proposed by Health Minister Tomas Julinek. The proposals are expected to be incorporated into nine bills and go into effect from 2009.
In a statement, the government said that the objectives for the reform package include the cutting of waste, efficiency improvements and greater control of the health insurance system. Mr Julinek said that health care demand is not being met by the 7.0 billion-euro ($9.53 billion) budget.
