Czech health care spending $878 million
Health spending is rising in the Czech Republic with patients' cash payments for medical services showing the fastest growth, according to the government's statistical office (CSU). Household spending on health care reached $878.0 million by 2004, up from $577.4 in 2000, with cash payments accounting for 10.2% of total health care. The CSU also highlights growth of spending on circulatory and digestive tract diseases, which it associates with unhealthy lifestyles.
