Eisai set to start testing melanoma drug in fiscal 2009
Japanese drugmaker Eisai is planning to start clinical testing of MORAb-028, a novel drug for melanoma, during the next fiscal year, according to the Nikkei Weekly. Developed by Pennsylvania, USA-based drugmaker Morphotek, which Eisai bought last year in a cash deal worth $325.0 million (Marketletter April 2, 2007), the monoclonal antibody will initially be tested in skin cancer, with further trials in small-cell lung cancer to potentially follow.
