US drug major Eli Lilly has announced that it will launch an on-line registry of physician payments in 2009 in a move towards greater transparency. At a speech to the Economic Club of Indiana, the Indianapolis-headquartered firm's chief executive, John Lechleiter, said it would become the first pharmaceutical research company to disclose its payments to physicians in the country.
