EMEA's Management Board transparency move and 2010 budget

The European Medicines Agency's (EMEA) Management Board has endorsed a pilot to allow participation of representatives from patients' and  consumers' organizations in the meetings of the Pharmacovigilance  Working Party, the Agency's group of experts dealing with  safety-related issues of authorized medicines.

The pilot will commence in April for a period of three months. Based on  the experience gained from this exercise, the Agency will develop a  general strategy to increase the involvement of patients and consumers  at different levels of the EMEA's work. "The involvement of civil  society in the Agency's work has become increasingly important over  the last years," the agency noted.
