The USA's Encysive Pharmaceuticals has launched its selective endothelin A receptor antagonist Thelin (sitaxentan sodium) 100mg tablets in Belgium and Luxembourg for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension. The firm received European Union marketing authorization for Thelin from the European Commission in August 2006. The agent is the first once-daily oral treatment available commercially for PAH patients in the EU.
