The ruling council of France's national sickness insurance mutual funds (CNAM) has forced the group's director, Frederic Van Roekeghem, to withdraw a plan to cut the reimbursement rate of treatments for some chronic conditions (Marketletter June 26). The proposals triggered a wave of protests from labor unions, physicians and opposition parties.
