France's LEEM attacks Le Monde op-ed bias
France's research-based pharmaceutical association, the LEEM, has vigorously attacked the authors of an opinion-editorial article published in Le Monde for their willingness to "misrepresent yet again the reality of the pharmaceutical industry's position" on information to patients.
The article that provoked the LEEM's reaction appeared in Le Monde's May 29 edition and was signed by Alain Bazot, the president of UFC-Que choisir (a consumer activist group), Jean-Pierre Davant, president of Mutualite Francaise (the French mutual health care funds federation) and Bruno Toussaint, editorial director of the Prescrire newsletter.
