France's LEEM negotiates base rates for drug firms

18 February 2008

The French drug industry association (LEEM) has published details of a collective bargaining agreement with two labor union confederations, the CFDT and the CFTC, as well as the National Autonomous Professional Union of Delegated Medical Visitors (SNPADVM), which represents pharmaceutical sales representatives. A 2.2% pay rise across the board for the sector is boosted for the lowest paid to 2.6%.

The deal is effective from February 1. In a statement, the LEEM explained that the deal means that the entry level pay rate in the drug industry, at 1,314.34 euros ($1,905) per month, will remain 2.7% above the minimum wage (SMIC).
