France's overseas depts get drug price cuts

French President Nicolas Sarkozy has announced a cut in drug prices for France's overseas departements and territories (DOM-TOM), according to a letter sent to public officials on the Indian Ocean island of La Reunion. Pres Sarkozy stated his belief that "medicines are distributed at excessive prices in the overseas departements because of a margins policy which is not fully justified." Mr Sarkozy's call for "speedy action" will be undertaken by ministerial decree.
