French Budget Minister Eric Woerth has called on the health fund organization CNAM to come up with measures for the current year to bring the health budget deficit under control. One suggestion already being trailed, but which is clearly highly controversial, is to cut the level of drug treatment reimbursement for people with long-term chronic illness to around 35%. Reimbursement for these patients' therapy is currently set at 100%.
