French new deal talks with health groups
As the Marketletter was going to press (July 12), French Labor MinisterElisabeth Guigou had begun urgent talks with doctors, the pharmaceutical industry and other health care groups over new contractual arrangements for doctors and the control of health spending.
The key items on the agenda were:
- the control of medical spending, with doctors calling for an analysis of health needs as a basis for the annual budget voted by parliament;
