French seasonal flu vacc campaign launched
The annual influenza vaccination campaign in France has been launched with an effort by the state sickness insurer to encourage senior citizens and people with certain conditions to get the inoculation. In 2007, over five million out of the nine-million target population received the seasonal flu preventive, a rise of 400,000 over the previous year.
The main demographic group invited to take up the offer of 100% reimbursed vaccine are the over 65 year olds. In addition, people with chronic-obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma are eligible, as well as some other long-term disease sufferers.
