Richter and Hetero collaborate on Ozempic generic

11 June 2026

Hungary’s largest drugmaker Gedeon Richter (RICHT: HB) and Indian generics firm Hetero Labs have announced the signing of a global collaboration agreement to jointly develop, register and commercialize semaglutide injection (a generic version of Ozempic), further strengthening the parties' long-term partnership and expanding access to affordable treatments for patients worldwide.

Danish pharma major Novo Nordisk (NOV: N) developed and markets Ozempic for the treatment of diabetes. The drug generated sales of 127.09 billion Danish kroner ($18.5 billion) in 2025. It also markets semaglutide under the trade name Wegovy for obesity, which was the largest component of its weight loss revenues of 82,347 million kroner in 2025.
