Russian govt extends permits to produce generics of Ozempic for domestic market

The Russian government has extended the permit for domestic pharmaceutical companies Promomed and PSK Pharma to produce generics of Ozempic (semaglutide). It is reported, future production will be carried out without the consent of the right holder – the Danish pharmaceutical major Novo Nordisk (NOV: N), reports The Pharma Letter’s local correspondent.

The decision is based on "an urgent need related to protecting the lives and health of citizens," according to state documents. So far, this decision has been welcomed by representatives of both Russian companies.
