US Supreme Court backs Hikma in skinny-label patent fight

The US Supreme Court has handed a unanimous win to British drugmaker Hikma (LSE: HIK) in a closely watched generics patent case brought by Irish biopharma Amarin (Nasdaq: AMRN).

The court ruled that Amarin had failed to plausibly show that Hikma actively encouraged doctors or pharmacists to infringe patents covering the cardiovascular-risk indication for Vascepa (icosapent ethyl).
