Genzyme's Epicel OKed by FDA
US biotechnology major Genzyme's wound treatment Epicel (cultured epidermal autografts) has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Clearance, which was granted under the agency's Humanitarian Device Exemption protocol, covers use of Epicel in the treatment of life threatening wounds associated with severe burns.
