GSK's Cervarix shows higher immune response vs Gardasil
UK drug major GlaxoSmithKline presented data at this year's International Papilloma Virus conference showing that its cervical cancer vaccine Cervarix generated a significantly higher immune response compared to its first-to-market competitor, Merck & Co's Gardasil.
In the comparative study, neutralizing antibody levels for Cervarix were more than two times higher than those for the US drug major's product for HPV type 16, and more than six times higher for HPV type 18. These results were highly statistically significant (p<0.0001).
