Copenhagen, Denmark-based TopoTarget AS presented positive data from a study of its BelCaP anticancer drug cocktail (belinostat/carboplatin/paclitaxel) in ovarian cancer at the Biennial Ovarian Cancer Research Symposium, held in Seattle, USA.
The Phase II open-label, non-randomized multicenter trial tested the regimen containing the firm's histone deacetylase inhibitor, belinostat, as well as carboplatin and paclitaxel, in patients with relapsed epithelial ovarian cancer. 35 patients were included with an overall response rate of 43%, four continue on therapy, with three complete remissions and 12 partial remissions, as measured using the Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumours scale.
