USA-headquartered Hospira, a global leader in generic injectable pharmaceuticals, says it has received marketing authorization for piperacillin/tazobactam for injection and has debuted the product in the UK. This is a generic version of US drug major Wyeth's Tazocin, the world's top injectable antibiotic, with 2008 European sales of around 250.0 million euros ($334.8 million). Further European launches are scheduled for the coming months.
