A county circuit judge in the US state of Illinois has issued a restraining order against the state's implementation of a regulation that would prohibit pharmacists from refusing to supply emergency contraception on religious grounds. The ruling affects five outlets in the northern part of the midwestern state and follows a decision from the Illinois Supreme Court.
The plaintiffs, Luke VanderBleek and Glenn Kosirog, argue that the state's rule breaches their constitutional rights. A hearing to decide on the issue is expected in June.
