Codis has agreed to acquire Catalent Pharma Solutions’ Nottingham, UK, facility, expanding its contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) capabilities in oral solid dose development and manufacturing.
The acquisition adds formulation development, clinical supply and small-scale manufacturing to Codis’ existing spray drying and particle engineering expertise. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Codis said the Nottingham site will complement its commercial spray drying facility in Haverhill, England, which is being expanded with a new commercial spray dryer due for validation in 2027.
Chief executive Nicolas Fortin said bringing formulation development and good manufacturing practice (GMP) manufacturing together would reduce development risk and provide customers with a more integrated path from development to commercial production.
The Nottingham site has more than 20 years of experience in development-scale spray drying and oral solid dose development, and its team will join Codis following completion of the transaction.
Codis operates manufacturing facilities in the UK and USA, providing spray drying, amorphous solid dispersion and finished dose manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and consumer health industries.
